After putting these two packs through 7 month test I can finally offer some thoughts on their usability and point out few improvements that could be made to this great platform:

As someone who’s done some photography, climbing and mountaineering I have a different perspective on the effectiveness of the gear made for the outdoors. After purchasing Maxpedition Vulture-II backpack and trying to put it to use I found few serious shortcomings some of which can be fixed DIY style and some of which have to be redone by Maxpedition themselves. Follow along on a two part review of this pack:

Maxpedition Vulture-II (part-1 / things to improve)

I have two personal Spyderco Paramilitary-2 — s30v and the infamous s90v (Carbon Fiber). My s30v is not centered, in fact it’s quite off-centered (however it doesn’t affect performance at all), my s90v is dead-centered. s30v Para-2 is what I carry in my pocket daily — excellent blade, great cutter/slicer and super quick action. It’s all beat up now from rock-rash (I rock climbed with it) but it’s how I like it — all weathered and used instead of shiny. I try to not worry about centering — just enjoy the blade.

Here’s the photo of my two para-2′s side by side (s30v on the left):

I recently purchased Busse SCABS – what an amazing blade! And one of the best things is that it’s blade geometry is very similar (if not identical) to Fallkniven F1′s which is great because I consider F1′s blade geometry to be perfectly balanced for both hunting and bushcraft needs. In other words Busse SCABS is Fallkniven F1 in a tux with a better handle. I highly recommend both! But for everyday use I’d still pick up F1 – it’s versatility and price just can’t be beat.

You can purchase Fallkniven F1 from our Amazon Webstore: Fallkniven F1 – Zytel Sheath.

Our distributor finally received Fallkniven F1 knives we ordered few months ago (they were apparently stuck in customs) and shipped them to us. We should receive them by the end of this week and send them to Amazon warehouse by Jan-26 which is when they should become available on our Amazon.com webstore: Knives 2 Have Amazon Store Front. Thank you for your patience.

ESEE-5 First Impressions and side by side comparison with Bark River Bravo-1, Fallkniven A1 and Fallkniven F1:

We placed a large order with the distributor mid-December and we are expecting a shipment within two weeks. Fallkniven F1′s sell out very fast and it seems they can’t make them fast enough. I’ll post another update as soon as they are back in stock.

ESEE IZULA-II is a great EDC Fixed Blade that will not tear a hole in your pocket literally and figuratively speaking :)
